Web 2.0 does not relate to a newer version of the web, instead it is a term used for new ways we can use the web in light of new advancements and online tools. This page will contain links to Web 2.0 definitions, examples of Web 2.0 applications and links to a number of YouTube videos explaining and illustrating Web 2.0
WEB 2.0 DEFINITIONS!
From Wikipedia: Web 2.0, refers to a perceived second generation of web-based communities and hosted services — such as social-networking sites, wikis and folksonomies — which aim to facilitate collaboration and sharing between users. The term became popular following the first O'Reilly Media Web 2.0 conference in 2004. Although the term suggests a new version of the World Wide Web, it does not refer to an update to Web technical specifications, but to changes in the ways software developers and end-users use the web as a platform.

GOAL SETTING! - PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SEMESTER 2, 2008.
Teachers are to set themselves 3 achievable, yet challenging ICT goals for Semester 2 2008. These goals can be related to:
- ICT Professional Development or
- improved ICT classroom outcomes
and will form the basis of our weekly ICT sessions.
The Queensland College of Teachers has also outlined new registration procedures in its CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Legislation that will be put in place in 2009. To maintain registration, all Queensland teachers must complete at least 30 hours of Professional Development each year. Please use the link below to learn more about this initiative. This new requirement will heavily impact on the formation of your individual goals for our PD sessions.
We will also be using the information from Education Queensland regarding the ICT Certificate and Pedagogical License for teachers to drive our sessions. All staff at St Michael's College will be required to complete one of these during 2008/2009. Links to more information below.
Individual goals will drive these PD sessions where teachers will at times be working alone, in small groups or as a whole group.
Peer Coaching will form much of the structure of these sessions as we work together to help each other achieve our goals.
Download to your 'H' and/or print the goal setting proforma belowto assist with the writing of your goals.
